From the isolated bogs of the North Carolina coast to the undisturbed Appalachian mountain streams, a remarkable variety of native carnivorous plant species quietly allure their unsuspecting prey. The most varied and adaptive among them is the pitcher plant which, if maintained properly while in captivity, can thrive for many years. There are nine distinct Sarracenia species found in North America, six of which are natives of North Carolina, and all of which can be found at Quaker Meadows Carnivores.
Our extensive collection consists of 90 different pitcher plant hybrids that have been developed through creative cross breeding in order to achieve a seemingly endless array of colors, sizes and characteristics. From a newly germinated seed to a plant that is sufficiently mature to be placed at a new home can take five years or more. Each plant is meticulously inspected and groomed throughout its development to ensure the highest quality possible.
